What should I do if a template domain is flagged / marked as "BAD domain"?

When a domain is in an error state, it will be marked as "BAD". If an active campaign of yours is using a domain in this state, you will receive a Flagged Domain Notification email (the bad_domain system email). You will also see warning icons in the Campaign Wizard and Manage Templates pages when a domain is flagged:

When a domain is marked as "BAD", it could mean one of the following:

  • Google Safe Browsing has flagged the domain. This results in targets being presented with a warning screen before they can navigate to the landing and/or training page. Our team works to clear this warning in 24-48 hours.
  • The URL to the domain failed to resolve in PhishingBox's automated domain check.
  • The domain has missing and/or misconfigured DNS records.

To use the template, or have a campaign continue sending emails, the selected domain for any effected templates will need to be swapped for a domain that's not in an error state. Alternatively, you will need to wait until the domain error state is resolved.

NOTE: If a campaign email is in a queued status, it's no longer possible to swap the template domain. You will either have to wait for the domain to clear its error state, or create a new campaign using a different template domain.
