Overview
To edit a course, go to School > Manage Content and choose Edit from the action drop-down.
Click one of the below links to jump to a section:
Course Details
This section lets you specify the course name, categories, description, and learning content and learning material of the course.
- Course Name - Name of the course you are creating/editing. Give your course a unique, descriptive name.
- Course Category - Place your course into zero or more categories.
- Description (optional) - Provide your students with a brief description of the course.
- Thumbnail Image - Icon that will appear for that course on your Manage Courses page as well as on the school dashboard. (Think of it as a way to visually identify your different courses.) This image should be a 128px by 128px .jpeg, .png, or .bmp file.
- Locales - Add another version of the course in another language.
- Estimated Time - Define an estimate on how many minutes and seconds a student can expect to take in order to complete the course.
Locales
When a creating a course, it will be created with a 'English' locale. In the course editor you will see the localization dropdown appear in the bottom-left. Here, you can change the localization you are editing, or add another localization.
To add a localization, click the icon, located in the bottom-left corner of the course editor. You will be presented with a "Create New Locale" window. Here, in the top drop-down, select the new language for the locale, and in the second drop-down, select the locale you want to copy from.
NOTE: Creating a new locale will not translate the language of the old locale (adding translated verbiage and course content to the new locale must be done manually).
After creating the new language localization you can swap between locales with the drop-down located next to the create locale button.
NOTE: You can not turn off the Default Locale on a course, since a course will always have exactly one default locale.
When enrolling a student, it will be sent a localization of the course based on the following order:
- Exact locale match to Target's language: PhishingBox will try to find a locale in the template that matches the student's locale.
- Locale match to student's base language: e.g., English for target with English (United States).
- Locale match to another locale in Target's base language: e.g., English (United Kingdom) for target with English (United States).
When a locale is deleted, any student that was assigned to that locale will get switched to the next best locale. If a locale is added that would better match the students language, the locale will not change for the student.
Content
The content tab allows you to set the course type (video, slideshow, SCORM, PDF, and none), and upload learning material. Learning material is additional content that the student can review while taking the course.
In the Learning Content section, there are three types of learning content the students will see when they open the course:
-
Video Link (YouTube or Vimeo) - Place the full link (including https://) to the video. Do NOT use URL shorteners for the link, but the full link.
- If you would like to add an unlisted YouTube video, follow these steps:
- Visit the unlisted video.
- Click the three vertical dots next to the video.
- Click "Get Shareable link".
- The link will resolves to a link like this: "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=[video_id]". This is the link that will need to be used for the course in portal.
- If you would like to add an unlisted YouTube video, follow these steps:
NOTE: If you're using Vimeo, strict mode may not lock out scrubbing since play bar settings are controlled from the video account and not the player.
- Slideshow Link - Provide the link to a slideshow. This will have to be a learning content link (for example, a link to a Google Slides slideshow). Furthermore, the course will need to be in Loose mode for the students to be able to get beyond the end of the slideshow. Read this article for instructions on creating a slideshow course.
- PDF - Provide a .pdf file. This will display the PDF to the student. The course questions will need to be in Loose mode for the students to be able to complete the course.
- SCORM File - Use a SCORM file as the learning type. Read more about SCORM files here.
- None - No content is set. The student will go straight to the questions when taking the course.
- Learning Material - Add additional material (images, PowerPoint files, etc.) that will appear on the right-hand side of the course, and is available for students to open/download. However, you can only add these to the course after the course has been created.
Please note that we recommend using SCORM-based content (if possible) due to higher configurability of player controls (i.e., scrubbing).
Questions
After clicking the "Create Course" button (for a new course) or the "Update Course" button (for a course that's being edited), the screen will refresh and you will see a "Questions" tab appear at the top.
Here, you can generate questions and answers for your students to select from. Questions can be arranged in any order and there is a slider to specify how many questions a student can answer incorrectly before failing.
Course Settings
- Disable Scrubbing: Prevents students from manually skipping ahead in videos using the scrub bar. This setting will only apply to video courses with YouTube links. All localizations will need to be YouTube links to enable the setting.
- Show Results After Submit: When enabled, students can view their answers after they attempt to complete the quiz.
- Allow Retake Without Restart: Students will be able to restart the quiz without having to answer all the questions.
- Immediate Feedback: Quiz questions are outlined in green/red immediately after answering to indicate correctness.
Library
If you are managing a library account, you will also have another tab called "Library". On this tab you can manage who can and cannot view/use/get your course.
-
Who can see the course? - Control who can see the course in their Content Library / Store page:
- Private - Only this account can see the course.
- Sub Accounts - Only the accounts associated with the library account and their sub-accounts can see the course.
- Public - All accounts in the system can see the course in their library. System administrators must first approve the course, however.
-
How to subscribe? - Control how other accounts can get a subscription to the course:
- Other accounts can create subscription - The account can subscribe to the course themselves. In "Library: Courses" (School > Library: Courses), the button will read "Subscribe" for the course.
- Course owner must create subscription - You must create the subscription for other accounts. This will likely be because the is a fee for the course and payment needs to be processed first. In the In "Library: Courses" (School > Library: Courses), the button will read "Request" instead of "Subscribe" for the course. An email will be sent to the account support address.
- Price (per target per year) - The price that other accounts will need to pay in order to get a subscription to the course. It is recommended to charge for the number of seats that the other account has for the year.
